Meet Carlos

CarlosWho is he? You can ask him, but I doubt even he really knows. I can hear Carlos saying something like, “a work in progress” or “ask me tomorrow, I hope today is the day I figure that out”. This Puerto Rican kid was born in Maine during a snow storm. He blames the snow storm for his lack of a Spanish accent and inability to roll his R’s like the rest of his family. But hey, “he was born in Maine, DURING A SNOW STORM! It must have been so cold that it froze that part of his brain or something.

Raised in Atlanta, GA and Tampa, FL Carlos has the South in him as much as he does his Puerto Rican roots. Rap, Reggae, Rock, Merengue, Salsa, R n’ B, Soul, Funk are like a musical gumbo for him. Carlos shares, “I love music. Always have. Its been in my life for as long as I can remember and I got into radio because of it. To be able to tell their stories, talk about their songs and see people react in the same way I did when I first heard it. Still blows my mind.”

Carlos’ break into radio as a “real DJ” started with two turntables and a crate full of records when he was brought into a Christian radio station in Tampa, FL to mix live on Friday nights. Even though he “had many chances to work in mainstream radio, he just never wanted to. Carlos said “It’s not in me. I live for Christ daily and want to show that in my actions and tell as many people as I can about Him. Radio is a pretty big platform and thankfully, so far its all worked out. God is good like that.”

I’m listening to you say you are saving without your wife knowing you have hidden money.
I think that’s fabulous.
My hubby used to do the same thing to me. It’s great you want to do something for her
If your wife loves you and she knows your character there will be no problem.
There was a time my hubby saved 3 or 4 hundred dollars and suprised me with a nice anniversary dinner it was great.
I always trusted him to do the right thing and he always did.

Carlos when you are out and someone is talking loud on their cell phones just join in the conversation. You wouldn’t believe how fast they either walk away or you meet a new friend!

I quit trying to hunt easter eggs because I couldn’t find anyone that could tell me what kind of gun and ammo you need to use. All they ever seened to do was laugh at me.

Carlos, I loved the 5-5-5 prayer you talked about today. I usually pray much of the way to work, which is about 40 minutes, but I don’t always stop to pray during the day. When I got home and checked the prayer wall, I thought, “I will start praying for others, and will time it for five minutes.” Well I did, but it turned into about twelve minutes! It is a good way to get in some prayer time–praying for others!

I created a letter for graduating seniors things like a band aid “to help with life’s little hurts,” a mirror to “help you see yourself as others see you.” I think there were 9 or 10 different little gifts in the gift bag, including a prayer. You can do this inexpensively and make personal to yourself.

You discussed chip bags full of air. My adult son, when he was in grade school, told my wife not to buy any more of the stack-pack chips to put in his lunch because the bags only had one or two potato chips. He considered it cruel and unusual punishment and would rather not have any chips at all versus one or two.

Carlos, heard the discussion of the caller that made a comment about dressing your son as a migrant worker. As I listened to peoples comments I couldn’t help but wonder about the arrogance of our society tho consider that an insult. In my years I’ve heard people look down on people like Janitors, sanitation workers, migrant workers, etc. these are hard working people trying to make a living and when we get called to be like them we see it as an insult. we are called to be humble but are we really? Most migrant workers I know are strong… Read more »
