Our second annual Festival of Carols on Sunday December 17 at 4 PM will feature all of the Bethany music ensembles joining together to celebrate Christ’s birth. The Bethany Men’s Ensemble will sing “As with Gladness Men of Old” arranged by Ken Berg with Susan Bocook playing French Horn. Susan will also play a selection during the Prelude of the Festival of Carols.
The Bethany Chamber Singers will sing “O Magnum Mysterium” by Tomas Luis de Victoria as well as “The Glory of the Father” by Frank Pooler.
The Imogene Williams Handbell Ensemble conducted by Michael Lopez will play “Good Christian Friends, Rejoice!” arranged by K. Strepka and “Coventry Carol” arranged by S. Eithun.
The Bethany Wesley and Melody Choirs directed by Barbara Bassett will sing “Unto Us a Child” arranged by Laura Farnell as well as “Children, Get Ready!” by Lynn Shaw Bailey and Becki Slagle Mayo.
New to the Music Ministries at Bethany, our Youth Choir, conducted by Matt Pedelty will sing “What Child Is This?” arranged by Melissa Malvar-Keylock and Jill Friedersdorf.
The Bethany Chancel Choir will sing “Magnificat” by George Dyson and will be joined by the Children’s Choirs, Youth Choir, and the Imogene Williams Handbell ensemble for the opening selection “Arise, Your Light Has Come” by David Danner.
All of the selections will be interspersed with scripture read by members of the Bethany Music Ministry and members of the Bethany staff and clergy. In addition, selected hymns will be sung by everyone such as “Come, Thou Long Expected Jesus”, “O Little Town of Bethlehem” and “Silent Night”.
