A Theme Park that definitley won’t sink

The developer of a Noah’s Ark-based theme park in Kentucky said recently he will only hire people who believe in the biblical flood. But state officials have said the developer could lose millions in potential tax credits if he does. Ark Encounter is set to open in 2016 in Williamston, Kentucky. The theme park isn’t hiring yet, but its parent company Answers in Genesis does ask that employees sign a faith statement when they are hired.… … Continue reading

Excuse Me, My Baby Is the Wrong Color: The Commodification of Children

This latest story from our brave new world may blow your mind, so I’ll read straight from the Chicago Tribune: “A white Ohio woman is suing a Downers Grove-based sperm bank, alleging that the company mistakenly gave her vials from an African-American donor, a fact that she said has made it difficult for her and her same-sex partner to raise their now 2-year-old daughter in an all-white community.” Read more HERE … Continue reading

67 Surprising Things Not Found in the Bible; How Many Can You Guess?

A lot of things are found in the Bible, and some… not so much. For example “God helps those who help themselves.” If you thought you could find that passage in the Bible, you may want to look in Hezekiah 1:8 (for those still lost on this, Hezekiah isn’t a book)… Benjamin Franklin was the man behind that quote. Stewardship is the cultivation of resources for God. The Bible tells us that one of the most important resources God has given us is our gifts, aptitudes, talents and abilities. One of the sacraments of the medieval church was the Sacrament of Holy Orders, which divided the… … Continue reading

Getting older? It happens to the best of us, and you’re not alone. Here are 5 real fears of growing older

I remember the first night in my own house. New wife. Mortgage payment to make each month. I felt responsible—more than I ever had in my life. And, honestly, there was a part of me afraid. It wasn’t a boogie man kind of fear. I’ve never been one to be that kind of afraid very much. It was a revering kind of fear. An awe of the weight of the responsibility. The enormity of the demand… … Continue reading
