5 Songs To Remind Me Who I Am

“I’ve heard this before,” I thought as I left my Bible study.

We were studying our identity in Christ. It seemed like basic foundations of the faith to me. Knowing whose we are and who God says we are. It wasn’t until this knowledge moved from my head to my heart that I saw the reason we were continually digging so deeply into this truth.

Understanding who you really are in Jesus changes everything!

I discovered in my own life that most issues and negative emotions stemmed from not believing a part of my identity in Christ.

When shame comes up, I know now that I am forgiven and God sees me as clean. I remind myself of this truth and it helps fight the shame. Loneliness takes over when I forget that God promises to never leave or forsake me because I belong to Him. Insecurity shows up when I start to compare myself to others. Remembering that God is crazy about me helps change that negative mindset. Who I am is deeply loved and known. Living with this truth brings freedom!

2 Corinthians 5:17 – Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

These songs also help center me on truth when I need it. I hope they help you too! – Joy
