We’re on the lookout for good role models for our kids. We look for someone who is living out their faith well, and though you might have been surprised to hear her on WAY-FM at first, Carrie Underwood is doing just that.
She’s been very successful in country music, but she hasn’t shied away from being open about her faith. In fact, the new song you hear on WAY-FM called “Something in the Water” has brought on her best first week debut yet. And she’s had a lot of number one hits.
The lyrics to “Something in the Water” tell a beautiful story of redemption and God’s mercy. She describes her brand new music video to Entertainment tonight, saying, “We took it in a direction that was definitely not what most people think. We just made it joyful, happy, and uplifting.”
She sings:
“Couldn’t fight back the tears so I fell on my knees
Saying, “God, if you’re there come and rescue me.”
Felt love pouring down from above
Got washed in the water, washed in the blood and now I’m changed
And now I’m stronger
There must be something in the water”
So, why do we play this song on WAY-FM? Because it helps capture the joy of finding Christ’s love and mercy for the first time. WAY-FM is all about taking ownership of your faith and relationship with God, then living it out – and we love how Carrie is living out her faith with this song.
