Rachel Cruze, daughter of Financial Peace guru Dave Ramsey, doesn’t believe it’s wise to go into debt, especially during the pressures of the holidays.

We thought maybe she just hadn’t considered some perfectly valid reasons for spending beyond our means, so we offered hypotheticals to see if she’d agree they were good ideas.

Rachel did have a lot of great advice for being wise with our money during the holiday season, including:

1. Know your boundaries, have a Christmas budget.
2. Use cash (or a debit card online).
3. Have a miscellaneous category in your budget for surprises.
4. Give gifts within your means, don’t spend money you don’t have.

And of course, we have to play a game.
