Foster Parent Classes

Sep 30

Date: September 30, 2021

Time: 6:00pm - 9:00pm

Share your love and compassion to help a child heal from their past and shape their future. Specialized Foster Parents receive training, on-call support, in-home and community intervention, and additional monthly stipends.

On any given day, our agency receives dozens of requests for children who need a temporary foster home here locally and throughout the state. Many of these are traumatized children who come from very broken and bruised backgrounds, full of fear, hurt, and pain. We believe that children can best heal from this trauma in the context of a family. This is where YOU come in, whether it be for a day, week, or months, you can make a difference for these youth by providing hope and healing.

If you are interested in becoming a foster parent, please join us for our next training class, starting 9/30/2021 at 6pm EST. Classes will occur weekly on Thursday nights through 12/16/21. This class is free. Zoom will be required to attend this class.

Camelot Community Care trains treatment foster parents using the Pressley Ridge curriculum, which is the only evidence-based pre-service training designed specifically for treatment foster parents. Pressley Ridge is built on the principles of Re-Education, which focuses on the strengths of each child and family, and maintains that competence and skills to overcome mental health struggles can be taught, and the development of trusting relationships with caring, committed adults is the most significant factor in turning around the lives of struggling children. During our classes, we will discuss what it means to be a professional parent in the context of a child's treatment, child development and the impact of trauma, trauma-informed parenting practices, therapeutic communication, conflict resolution, skill teaching, changing behavior, crisis management and more!

Not sure if you are ready to take the plunge into our foster parenting class? Have questions regarding requirements? Give us a call, let's talk! We will be happy to answer your questions to see if foster parenting is right for you and your family.
