1) It’s for Kids
The Junior Parade has all of the traditional elements you love about parades, but they are all done by kids! Children come from all parts of the city to join in: dressing in costume, transforming wagons into floats, decorating their bikes with colorful flowers, or just parading with their pets (and parents!). Your kids will really connect with seeing their peers on parade. There are lots of people there to watch, but it’s not nearly as crazy as the Grand Floral or Starlight Parades.
2) Best. Parents. Ever.
Yes, your kids love you and think you are awesome. But this provides you with the opportunity to go above and beyond. The parade starts at 1 PM, which means you will have to pull your kids out of school. Education is important, but so is making an incredible memory. Surprise your child by picking them up for lunch and then head to the parade. What a day!
3) Support 104-5 WAY-FM
WAY-FM will be in the parade! Hi-five Dot the Mascot, wave, and cheer as the WAY-FM van rolls by you on the route. There will be many people there who have not heard of WAY-FM and probably don’t know Jesus. There could be a great opportunity for you to tell people around you about WAY-FM and why you listen. You can impact our community for Jesus just by sharing your WAY-FM story!
We hope to see you out on the parade route through the Hollywood District on June 5. You could also join us IN the parade! Find out more about the parade route and other participants at http://www.rosefestival.org/event/junior-parade
If you want to create your own “float” and walk in the parade check out this awesome workshop on May 18.
