Four fascinating facts about Casting Crowns:

Daytona Beach PierThey’re originally from right here in Florida.

Casting Crowns got their start in Daytona Beach, Florida in 1999 when they formed as a youth worship band.  They’re now based out of Georgia, but Florida can claim them as one of our own.

PBA SailfishThey won a GMA award at Palm Beach Atlantic University

The Gospel Music Association gives out regional awards as well as the national Dove Awards.  In 2004, Casting Crowns won for Best Song and Best Artist.  These awards were presented right here in South Florida at Palm Beach Atlantic University.

Sawyer BrownThey were discovered by a country music artist

Even though they weren’t looking to get signed with a label, Mark Miller, the lead singer for Sawyer Brown was incredibly impressed with the band and signed this to his newly formed label, Beach Street Records.  In fact, they were the very first band every signed to that label.

Steven Curtis ChapmanSteven Curtis Chapman co-produced their first album.

Yes, that Steven Curtis Chapman who sings Love Take Me Over and Cinderella, along with countless other hits. He joined Mark Miller in the studio to produce Casting Crowns very first album.
