Happy New Year! Here are 6 things you need to know about 2016!
1.) There will be good days and bad days.
2016 will be filled with wonderful days you will want to remember forever, but there will also be days you might want to forget. That’s ok. That’s just how life works. Through the good and through the bad, there is always something to learn and a chance to grow.
2.) Change won’t happen over night.
The new year is a time to set goals and to focus on change. While new year resolutions can be healthy, it’s important to remember change doesn’t happen over night. It’s hard to break bad habits, and it’s difficult to start new, healthy ones. Don’t get discouraged if it takes you a while to reach your goals. Keep working at it, and keep putting in effort when you feel like giving up! You can do it.
3.) God is with you.
No matter what 2016 brings your way, God is with you. He will hold your hand on the worst days, and He will laugh along with you on the best days.
Isaiah 41:10 – “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”
4.) You will make mistakes.
You will make mistakes this year, whether that’s using baking soda instead of baking powder when making cookies, or something more serious like losing your temper in front of your kids. We’re all human. We are bound to mess up. The wonderful thing about mistakes though are the lessons we can learn from them. Let 2016 be a year where you can laugh at and learn from your mistakes so you can be a better person in 2016!
5.) 2016 can be a year to live out your faith!
2016 will be a year where you can live out your faith authentically. Let this be a year where you grow closer to God, to your church family, and step out of your comfort zone and be the hands and feet of Christ.
