Data Engineer

The Data Engineer is a skilled technology innovator who loves problem solving. The Data Engineer is responsible for managing, integrating, enhancing, and maintaining custom applications using Dynamics 365. This position is responsible for managing Hope Media Group source code assets, user interfaces, and documenting technology solutions. The engineer will architect solutions using Dynamics to create custom business logic, integration modules, and workflow assemblies to ensure all teams at Hope Media Group can “take technology for granted.” We have a small, but mighty, team of engineers and are looking to grow as our business grows. We are looking for someone who creatively thinks outside the box and isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves to dig into a solution. The Data Engineer learns and understands Hope Media Group’s ministry, business processes, workflows, and user needs. This role provides proactive and relevant solutioning and has experience with quality assurance. The engineer will collaborate with software, data science, IT, and test engineers in order to produce cohesive and unified solutions.

Essential Functions

Analysis and Reporting

  • Learn, understand, and recommend ministry relevant process and workflow automation.
  • Participate in Architecture Design Sessions, Design Reviews, and Coding Sprints with customers as a Dynamics or Power Platform Subject Matter Expert.
  • Help simplify Hope Media Group’s technology footprint and user experience.
  • Follow, promote, and mature agile methodology.
  • Train customers on new features, including leadership.
  • Adheres to and matures our technology architecture and data management standards.
  • Provide end user assistance in and council for CRM, web, mobile, business, and radio support applications.

Demonstrated Faith

  • Pray for coworkers in team meetings
  • Lead prayer in large group settings as needed
  • Pray for donors when called upon to do so
  • Use Christian principles to work through conflict as outlined by the Culture tool kit
  • Participate in Sharathon, PowerDrive and Thankathon, and pray for donors over the phone as needed
  • Participate in ministry wide Christian bible studies
  • Attend weekly Staff Gatherings for prayer and devotions

Requirements and Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in business analytics area or closely related field

Experience:

  • 2 years of experience building solutions on low-code platforms like Power Platform.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365, Power Platform, MySQL (preferred)
  • Prior experience in supporting one or more cloud infrastructure migration projects is essential.
  • Experience delivering advanced integrations, APIs, SOA, and micro service architectures.
  • Experience implementing authentication, accessibility, and security compliance user authentication and authorization between multiple systems, servers, and environments, including OAuth & SSO.
  • Experience with SQL/NoSQL/MySQL databases and their declarative query languages.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to self-teach new technologies and/or programing languages.
  • Understanding of a non-profit and the unique aspects of this business (preferred)
  • Ability to accept direction from a Scrum Master and quickly shift projects as priorities shift.
  • Proven ability in communicating frequently, simply, and proactively with customers, partners, and peers.
  • Consistent track record of delivery: targeting time, budget, and requirements.
  • Deep understanding of ministry needs and creatively translate needs to relevant technical solutions.
  • Proficiency developing for Dynamics or equivalent ERP or CRM products.
  • Understanding of cloud computing architecture and fundamentals like security, performance, and scalability.
  • Ability to apply fundamental design principles for scalable, supportable software application development.
  • Understanding database schemas that represent and support business processes.
  • Conversant with analytical data modeling, ET&L, BI reporting
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools and Git based methods/tools.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with an innate attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently as well as with a team.
  • Ability to work in a remote team environment.
  • Background in advanced analytics and/or data science.
  • Heart for Christian ministry
  • Strong moral character
  • Has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Spiritually grounded and working knowledge of scripture
  • Must be an active member of a Bible believing local church
