Worth It.

I was listen to some WAY-FM songs last night about the cross. I know what God has done for me. I’m sure you’ve heard the story a bunch of times as well. It’s all about the cross and God’s sacrifice for us. It’s the basis of our salvation. I think the problem is I’m used to the story. I know it backwards and forwards. The story of Jesus dying on the cross doesn’t always hit me like it should. Last night was different though.

While listening to powerful music about the cross, God just gripped my heart for the first time in a long time. I realized how much pain he went through and how horrific the cross truly is. The cross is a torture device and yet it is what we associate with hope! God gave us hope by paying the price that we could not pay for our sins!

Tears started flowing down my cheeks as I told God, “I’m not worth it.” The price that you paid was so high and so miserable and painful! I’m not worth all of that sacrifice! I know what I do. I know who I really am! But God spoke quietly to my heart and said in that moment, “You are worth it. You are worth it to me.”
