Brant and I combined our love of music and dance to speak a universal language, that needs not words, to connect with the kids in Haiti.
At one of the Compassion projects they were showing us paintings done by some of the kids in the program. I was so impressed, I asked if I could buy one of the paintings. The cool thing was I also got to meet, Johnny, the kid who did the painting I bought. I hope he becomes a famous artists and overcharges me for one of his paintings someday.
The Compassion project we visited on this day was in one of the poorest slums in Port au Prince. In the midst of the sadness and filth, the kids were an absolute joy.
At one of the Compassion projects, Brant and I were asked to say something inspiring to the kids. Brant knocked it of the park talking about Jesus, and how we will all be together in Heaven someday. I didn't do as well.
Taking a tour of Port au Prince is we stopped at the site of a 6 story hotel that was leveled in seconds. Sadly, this is a scene that is repeated all throughout the country.
I really wanted to share my love of dance and jazz hands with the kids we met, but we had to do something else first.
