Childplace, Inc. is a 501(c)3, not-for-profit agency established in 1966, providing multiple treatment options for abandoned, abused, and/or neglected children and adolescents in need. Childplace’s services include: residential treatment, foster care, a community counseling center, adoption services, and in-home therapy as well as in-home case management. Childplace provides services for at-risk children and their families in the entire Southern Indiana/Metro Louisville area; an in Childplace’s specialized residential programs, the agency serves children through the entire state of Indiana.
Childplace works with children who have experienced some significant challenges in life. For these children, Childplace provides an effective place of hope and healing through our structured living environment, therapy services, educational support, and opportunities for spiritual growth; but we also see the value in providing time and opportunity for kids to be kids. Due to the chaotic and abusive circumstances that many of the children at Childplace have endured, the children we serve have limited experience in “just being a kid.” We believe these opportunities for play, exercise, socialization, recreation, and activities in the community will strengthen self-esteem, increase a child’s willingness to work with others and “get along”, and improve their overall outlook on life and future opportunities.
Over the last five decades, Childplace has witnessed significant changes in the needs of children and families. To address the struggles of today’s at-risk youth, Childplace provides focused interventions and specialized treatment for children and families. During the last 50 years the agency’s purpose has remained the same: to provide a place of hope and healing for children and families. Over the last 50 years, Childplace has provided residential care for over 1,700 children and adolescents, placed nearly 350 children in adoptive homes, and provided thousands of hours of counseling to individuals and families. Our mission states, “Childplace exists to serve children at risk by meeting their needs and equipping them for life in a spirit of Christian love.”
