I wash throwing out some trash in our apartment dumpster when I noticed a raccoon trapped in a hole in the side. She was exhausted from fighting to free herself and I just couldn't leave her. We called animal control but they gave us an even vaguer window for showing up than the cable company. So, I called on all the training I gathered from watching movies like ladder 49, Backdraft, and fire proof, then sprang into action.
I am happy to report that thanks to some quick thinking, compassion and a fireman showing up with pliers the mother raccoon is doing fine!
