Hebrews 10:25 (NLT) says, “…and let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.” Throughout the Bible we see many examples of the body of Christ coming together, worshiping God, and breaking bread together. Just as it was important for our church fathers, it is also necessary for us to come together and worship our God as one.
2. To hear the Word of God
Going to church gives us an opportunity to be fed the word of God. While we can and should read God’s word on our own, it is refreshing and nourishing when we can discuss and learn God’s word together.
3. Christianity is about unity
As Christians we are called to be one in Christ! Romans 12:5 (NLT) says “So it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.” When we raise our voices in unison, cry out to God together, and take communion with our friends and family we are reminded of our unity!
Church is a time where we can be challenged in our faith, and held accountable by other believers. The bible tells us we are to learn from each other. Titus 2: 4-6 (NLT) says, “These older women must train the younger women to love their husbands and their children. . . In the same way, encourage the young men to live wisely.”
As Christians this is why we need the church in our lives. If you don’t have a church that you attend regularly, or you are new to Southwest Florida and haven’t found a home church yet, you can find a list of churches in the WAY-FM Church finder.
