Who are you?

I love the quote that says we can tell the nature of a person by the way they handle rainy days, lost luggage and tangled Christmas tree lights…in all three of these scenarios, I have failed ridiculously by acting like a silly little spoiled girl.  Then there was the fortune cookie that said, “We were made to persist…it is in persisting that we find out who we are…

I truly want to be a person who thinks first and acts second…but that’s not in my human nature…This is why I am so thankful for the Holy Spirit:  As we grow in our relationship with the Father and the Son, the Spirit gets into the mix when our humanity and our natural behavior stand poised to get the better of us…that is Victory!!!

Maya Angelou once said:

“You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it.”

It’s not meant for us to avoid trouble…in fact, we’re told in the Word that we’re going to encounter it…the messiness of life is a given…but we don’t have to take it lying down, and we don’t have to succumb to the temptation of becoming a screaming banshee thinking that’s what it’s going to take to master it…

Today is the day you can ask yourself, “who are you?” when it comes to the various scenarios of life…if you don’t like the answer to the question…that’s okay…the Father is waiting to be invited in to help you change that…
