Sometimes You have to Adapt Your Perspective to Survive

Live Service Out, our national service event, was this past weekend. Carlos and I met an amazing woman named Rachel at the rescue mission. She is an avid WAY-FM listener that was so excited to come and serve people breakfast. Rachel explained that she used to live on the streets. She knows what a life of addiction looks like so now that she is off the streets she wants to give back and help others.… … Continue reading

#TheStruggleisReal

Ever wonder why you have to struggle? Why God doesn’t just take away the things in our lives that make us fall flat on our faces? Like that pride issue that creeps into every argument making you always have to be right, regardless of who you may hurt… Or that online addiction that has creeped into your marriage taking your eyes and desires away from the one you gave your heart to… Or that vanity… … Continue reading

Arguing Sometimes Gets Us Nowhere

I looked around the circle at the four faces of my nervous band mates. It was our first official “show” and we were terrified. I loved singing in the shower, but in front of PEOPLE? I was terrified. The head of our band, Terry, said an amazing inspiring speech reminding us that we were doing this for the glory of God and not for us. Terry always knew what to say. He was the spiritual… … Continue reading

Moving= Moving On

It’s crazy when life situations perfectly reflect what is going on with you internally. Yesterday I moved to a new apartment across town. Moving is terrible and always frustrating. However, as I did my final walk through in my old apartment this morning, I realized that this move represents what I’m trying to do mentally right now. MOVE ON. There were a lot of hard moments in my old apartment. I went through a break… … Continue reading

Is there such a thing as “The One”

I don’t think so. As a guy who has been married, lost at love, and is trying again to let go and let God…the idea of “the one” doesn’t seem to fit me any more. What if because of my life’s decisions (or theirs) I’ve missed out on my “One”? What now? What if God doesn’t have one particular person you’re supposed to marry? What if there are many different men or women with whom… … Continue reading

TV DADS! What TV dad was the best dad of all time?

1. Cliff Huxtable (The Cosby Show) 2. John Walton, Sr. (The Waltons) 3. Charles Ingalls (Little House on the Prairie) 4. Andy Taylor (The Andy Griffith Show) 5. Howard Cunningham (Happy Days) Is there anyone that you thought should have made the list but didn’t? My favorite is Danny Tanner from Full House and he didn’t make the list! … Continue reading

I Heart Modesty

Joy here and I love modesty as much as the next girl, but sometimes it’s frustrating. We had a listener call WAY-FM today and say that all the girls here dress too immodestly at events. He said we shouldn’t wear makeup or style our hair so much. He said men don’t want to lust, but when girls come around dressed provocatively that they can’t help it. I don’t think a phone call has ever infuriated… … Continue reading

When God blows your mind.

My girlfriend and I are doing a bible study together using the book by Matt Chandler “To Live is Christ, To Die is Gain” and this weeks chapter had a moment that God used to blow my mind. It talked about the intimacy of God in our lives and how we rarely ever notice it. Think about it. God cares about your needs, wants, desires, thoughts, plans…all of it. Just you. In the midst of… … Continue reading
